Summer Reading Kick Off

Carrollton and Norborne Public Libraries are collaborating this year to bring Tales or Tails, You Call It Summer Reading Program to maintain or increase reading levels in our communities’ youth.

As summer tends to be more relaxed, reading levels fall for children in primary and elementary school as well as homeschooled children.  This project is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act as administered by the Missouri State Library, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State.  The libraries will offer programming during June and July weekly at both locations to impact those learners or participants during the summer.

Activities include storytelling, games, crafts, art projects, songs and science experiments as the libraries dive into animal stories, fairy tales and science fiction.

The Libraries will kick off the summer learning experience with Thorni Ridge Exotic Animal Petting Zoo on June 1st from 10 am – 6 pm in the Carrollton Public Library’s parking lot.

From their website: Thorni Ridge Exotics is a true hands-on exotic animal experience for kids and adults alike‭.  Their animals,‭ ‬staff, and equipment provide quality friendly entertainment and education.
