{"id":2226,"date":"2020-09-01T18:01:43","date_gmt":"2020-09-02T00:01:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.carrolltonlibrary.com\/?p=2226"},"modified":"2020-09-01T18:01:43","modified_gmt":"2020-09-02T00:01:43","slug":"library-update-september-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.carrolltonlibrary.com\/index.php\/2020\/09\/01\/library-update-september-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Library Update- September 1"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Carrollton Public Library is fully OPEN in the main library and excited to offer mobile WiFi hotspots and iPads for lending!&nbsp; The hotspots and iPads will allow those without internet access to connect to WiFi which has become increasingly necessary during the COVID-19 pandemic.&nbsp; As our education and economic systems demand internet connectivity, the library hopes to fill patron needs.&nbsp; The library\u2019s lending program includes borrowing and using the devices for free.&nbsp; Each device, limited one per household, has a two-week checkout period and can be renewed if no holds are placed on the device.&nbsp; If a mobile WiFi hotspot or iPad is lost or damaged, replacement fees will be charged on patron\u2019s accounts.&nbsp; The devices are compliant with the Children\u2019s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) passed by Congress in 2000 to address concerns about children\u2019s access to obscene or harmful content on the internet.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sue Lightfoot, Carrollton Public Library Director, states, \u201cThe mobile WiFi hotspots and iPads were purchased with grant funds supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the CARES Act as administered by the Missouri State Library, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State. The grant funds are in response to our community\u2019s growing needs for internet accessibility because of virtual education, remote learning, and workforce development.\u201d&nbsp; She continues, \u201cAt this time, we have limited amounts of mobile WiFi hotspots and iPads.
