A “FRIEND”-ly reminder that annual membership dues are being collected.  Reminders went out in the mail late January/ early February to old and prospective members.  Annual dues and monetary support are needed to support projects to increase literacy, promote reading, and improve library facilities.

We all know that 2020 was a year of Plan B, or even Plan C, when our nation was shut down because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Through these challenges that continue today, the library and Friends adapted well with virtual learning methods, offering no/minimum contact library services and outreach services, and being a valued community supporter. We accomplished all of this while being considerate of public health and safety. We understand that many groups are seeking your time and money especially now that we have been through a period of adjustment because of the pandemic. We hope that you will consider $10.00 a worthwhile investment to benefit a facility that has been a stable in our community which provides a world of resources within its walls and through its virtual collections and connections.

Previously the “Friends” purchased signage to designate areas of the Library, baby changing tables for each of the restrooms, book carts, DVD carousels, microwaves, kitchen cabinetry and hosted an initiative with the Carrollton High School to encourage reading during the teenage years. In addition, the “Friends” sponsor used book sales throughout the year and placed Free Little Libraries at the park’s Tot Lot and the Walking Trail that are maintained. The ongoing used book sales and membership dues are currently the only fundraising projects.

The $10.00 membership dues for the Friends of the Carrollton Library, a non profit 501(c)(3) organization, are collected annually with the promise to keep the time commitment down to minimal levels. The ongoing fundraiser, the Friends Cup, is available for new members to collect their spare change. When a Friends Cup is overflowing, please bring the cup and the change to the library to make your donations at any time.

Please become a Friend of the Library or renew your membership to help us reach our goal of 150 members. Fill out the information below, enclose your membership dues or donation, and return to the library in the enclosed self-addressed envelope. All membership dues and donations are tax deductible.

Thank you for your membership in support of the Carrollton Public Library and its many beneficial programs and services. Check us out on Facebook at Friends of the Carrollton Library for current news.

Sincerely,

Executive Board Friends of the Carrollton Library
