It was decided to hold off electing new board members until the September 2019 meeting which will be the annual membership meeting.
The Friends are still collecting memberships for the 2019 year. If you know of anyone willing to join us for the $10.00 membership, we promise to keep the time commitment down to minimal levels.
For those members who are new or did not receive their Friends Cup, please stop by the library to get one. This promotion was to donate spare charge to the Friends group through an ongoing basis throughout the year. When your cup is overflowing please bring to library to make your donation at any time.
The Friends group was involved with the City Wide Garage Sales in April. They raised $250!
The Friends group is applying for a grant from MFA Incorporated to purchase telescopes to align with the library’s Summer Reading Program theme, Universe of Stories. We will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Moon Landing and programs will involve astronomy. If the Friends group receives the grant, the telescopes will be retained for patron checkouts after the summer programs are over. There was discussion about the Friends sponsoring an evening under the stars with the telescopes if the grant is awarded. In the meantime, the group decided to take advantage of the telescopes offered locally at reduced rates to begin this project. Til then, keep reading Friends!
