Update- June 30, 2020

The Carrollton Public Library Board met for their monthly session on June 23rd and has announced the following plan for reopening the library’s physical building and restoration of in-house programming to begin on MONDAY, JULY 6, 2020.

The library’s building will be open to the public with NO limits of patrons for browsing in the main library and the normal computer usage policies have been restored. The library encourages patrons to continue to adhere to social distancing guidelines as set forth by public health officials.

Patrons visiting the library’s building will be encouraged to wear masks and use the hand sanitizer dispensers placed throughout the building. The library will continue the quarantine of books and materials, sanitizing protocols, and patron sign-in sheets upon arrival.

The Library Board restored in-house programming for the summer beginning July 6th.  Therefore, specific programs will be available for those child care providers, family units, and groups to attend from July 6th through August 6th.

  • For those children attending the Guardian Angel Daycare, their storytime will begin at 9:30 am on Monday and Thursday each week as we continue our collaboration.
  • The library encourages parents/caregivers with children to attend programs at 10:30 am on Monday and Thursday each week for storytime, crafts, and activities.
  • Harvester’s Grab and Go snacks will be available from 2 -4 pm on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday weekly to coincide with the in-house programs beginning at 2 pm for families or groups. Harvester’s Food Network provides healthy snacks to those children up to age 18 to ensure our community’s youth receive healthy nutrition during the summer. Parents or care providers will need to attend with their children to receive the meals or use the card provided by library staff.
  • The Summer Reading Collaboration with Norborne Public Library is going strong with participants signed up and returning their reading logs.  For those who want to track their reading online, the library offers READsquared App for patrons and their children to use.  Please use this website: www.carrollton.readsquared.com to sign your child up for free to track their progress of reading over the summer.

The NO-CONTACT services will still continue as these services have been well received by our patron base.  These services include:

  • Library staff will take patron’s phone calls, text messages, emails, or Facebook messenger to fulfill hold requests. The library asks patrons to either call, 660-542-0183, email patron@carrolltonlibrary.com, or reach out to library staff on social media/Facebook messenger: https://www.facebook.com/Carrollton-Public-Library-127287750675022
  • Patrons needing photocopy, printing, or fax services, the library staff will continue the NO-CONTACT service options for these needs as well.  Just a phone call to the library 660-542-0183 or a quick email with the explanation of what is needed to patron@carrolltonlibrary.com will allow patrons to access these services while the physical building occupancy remains limited.

The library’s book drops located outside the main library on Folger Street and in the parking lot off Monroe Street remain open for book returns. Patrons are asked to use the outside book returns when possible, however, there is an inside book return for items.  This is due to quarantining and sanitization measures to ensure the safety of library materials.

The Get Connected courier service funded by the Missouri State Library is operational and patrons can place holds on items from Missouri Evergreen consortium libraries.  Expect a longer wait time for your materials as quarantine and sanitizing protocols are followed by library staff around the state.

The Carrollton Public Library has digital collections that include thousands of items using Overdrive through www.molib2go.org or the LIBBY APP or AXIS360 APP, Tumblebooks, and MOREnet’s Learning Express Library and Ebsco for learning resources.  Patrons are encouraged to access the virtual library. Go to www.carrolltonlibrary.com or the library’s Facebook https://www.facebook.com/Carrollton-Public-Library-127287750675022/ and use the web page links to access the many electronic materials available including books, audios, and videos plus digital storytimes by our staff and Tumblebooks.

If patrons do not already have a library card, residents of Town of Carrollton and those residents living outside city limits can get a virtual eCard for access to these digital resources. Please follow this link listed on the library’s website, www.arrollltonlibrary.com, https://forms.gle/scVJ4pbqnk4AHAsc8 to complete the online form or reach out to us by calling the library at 660-542-0183, reaching out by email to patron@carrolltonlibrary.com, or use the library’s Facebook page messenger.

Sue Lightfoot, Library Director notes, “ The library staff is excited to add the element of in-house programming to the list of services we offer our communities.  As we move through the reopening phases, we truly do appreciate the community’s support of our library and we WILL see you soon!”
